Sea Of Thieves Talks About Solo-Play In The Latest Episode Of Inn-Side Story

sea of thieves sloop sunsetMMORPGs like Sea of Thieves are social games by nature. But, there’s always someone who’d rather take on the wide open world, or in this case, the wide open seas alone. While this is pretty easy to do in typical “land-based” MMORPGs where you can jump on a fire-footed horse and gallop into the sunset, sailing a massive Spanish galleon by yourself is a different matter. Don’t worry, Rare made sure that players who want to play solo can do so with the Sloop.

The Sloop is a small two-crew ship that’s specifically designed for solo and duo players. Of course, setting sail on a sloop isn’t the same as prowling the high seas on a galleon. Since you’re still on the same shared world, other players can still attack you and your Sloop. “It certainly changes the way you approach the game,” says the devs. “You might have to be a lot more cautious and stealthy on the ocean.”

Or, you can sail in to the wind cannons blazing and take on a bigger ship just for the heck of it. The game’s sandbox mechanics give you the freedom to do just about anything you want. “There’s a bunch of different ways to play Sea of Thieves but really it’s just about going out there, trying them, and finding the playstyle and ship size that suits you best.”
