Sailboats, Deep-Sea Fishing, And Buried Treasure Await Players In Neverwinter Sea Of Moving Ice
With the upcoming Sea of Moving Ice update, players will be faced with the challenge of navigating the “Neverwinter’s largest zone yet”. As part of the update, players will gain access to wooden sailboats called khyeks that they can use to move around in the vast, frigid, iceberg-laden seas of the north. Systems Designer, Tradd “Dreadnaught” Thompson writes:
“As Icewind Dale brings adventurers to Neverwinter’s largest zone yet, the Sea of Moving Ice, there are some who wonder how one would begin to navigate such a place. Fortunately, the native Ice Hunters already have this all figured out, and some of them may even be willing to share their methods, in exchange for your aid. As you progress through the zone, you’ll gain access to your very own khyek, a personal maneuverable boat that allows you to venture across the open sea. There are several tiers of khyeks you can find in the zone that improve in speed and appearance with each tier. These vessels cannot be summoned beyond the Sea of Moving Ice.”
In addition to being an effective means of transportation in the zone, khyeks will also allow players to go deep-sea fishing. Although, much like in the real world, deep-sea fishing in Neverwinter will be a completely different experience from traditional fishing. Also, ordinary fishing rods just won’t cut it. Aside from catching creatures that inhabit the Sea of Moving Ice, players can also, on occasion, reel in bottles containing rare treasure maps that point to random and often hard-to-reach locations. The devs assure players, however, that, “the loot will make it worthwhile.”
The Sea of Moving Ice update brings the recently released Storm King’s Thunder expansion to a close. Check out the expansion’s official launch trailer below or read the full dev blog post here.
