RPG Maker MMORPG Wing Of Misadventure Greenlit And DMCA'd In The Same Day

Indie development is tough; it's even more tough when your game is greenlit only to have victory snatched away from you right afterwards by a DMCA notice. That's exactly what happened to RPG Maker MMORPG Wing of Misadventure earlier today.
The situation is a bit complicated. Wing of Misadventure makes use of a number of libraries and resources that were made available to RPG Maker users by other RPG Maker users. While 4Tabern claims that it carefully inspected each library and resource that it made use of to ensure that the licenses allowed it to use the libraries and resources commercially, it also believes that it is one of the creators of said libraries and resources that issued the DMCA notice. Given that a number of resources made by community members have their licenses written out exclusively on forums alongside the download, depending on the resources it used, the situation could easily become messy.
For those who don't know, the DMCA process is simple. Once a DMCA notice is issued, the recipient of the DMCA can issue a counterclaim. Once a counterclaim has been issued, the claimant has 10 days to provide proof of misuse of intellectual property before the DMCA is dismissed.
Ultimately, though, it seems that 4Tabern wants to resolve the matter peacefully and one of the developers stated in the comments of their announcement detailing the DMCA notice that they will work to "remove of redo" any offending features, should they need to.
