KingsIsle Entertainment Unveils Single-Player Wizard101 Prequel Ravenwood Academy

KingsIsle Entertainment is expanding the Wizard101 franchise with a visual novel-styled prequel called Ravenwood Academy: A Wizard101 Story. Like the original free-to-play MMORPG, it promises a narrative-driven adventure that plops players into the shoes of a student of the titular school of magic, although it’s apparently going to be a single-player game.

“Step into the role of an outcast student wizard attending Ravenwood Academy and prepare to discover the truth behind the school’s bizarre events. Create connections, investigate mysteries, and drop in for a spell in this storybook-style life sim where your choices matter.”

You’ll be tasked with investigating the strange events happening around the campus and will need to search for clues, interview witnesses, foster relationships with various characters, and even take on the role of pseudo-lawyers as you defend yourself and your friends during disciplinary hearings, all while juggling your schoolwork. Your choice of activities and decisions will also affect how the narrative unfolds.

Ravenwood Academy is coming soon to PC via Steam. It’s unclear whether the game will be free-to-play like Wizard101, but we’ll let you know as soon as we hear from the devs.
