Ravendawn Online Walks Back Paid Stat Reset, Switches It To In-Game Currency Instead

Tavernlight Games introduced a new paid stat reset feature in Ravendawn Online last week but has now changed the cost to in-game currency over pay-to-win concerns. According to the developers, their goal was to give players the option to reset their builds while also limiting its use, in this case by locking it behind a paywall, but never intended it to be a pay-to-win mechanic.
“Our goal was to limit how feasible it was for people to reset tree's that were never intended to have support to be reset (albeit, we agree that an infrequent reset option is desirable and was necessary),” the devs explained on Discord. “We hope our historic moves and decisions on how we monetize and shape Ravendawn has shown this was never intended as our goal.”
They also pointed out that players would have probably also complained even if they’d decided to charge in-game currency right off the bat. “We felt that simply Silver would lead to another complaint such as ‘now you're favoring silver rich players’, etc.”
To Tavernlight’s credit, premium currency could only be used in Ravendawn to purchase cosmetics up until they added premium stat resets. Each player has now been given a free stat reset and any Ravencoin used to avail of the new feature will be refunded.
