Ragnarok V: Returns Sets August Launch for New Regions

Ragnarok V: Returns, the latest mobile spin-off of the long-running MMORPG series, will open servers for North America, Latin America, and Oceania on August 6, 2025. While the original PC version led to the rise of the Ragnarok franchise, there's been no new PC version of Ragnarok since Ragnarok Online 2, which was a big flop. The game has seen a lot of success on mobile though, mostly in Asia.

The move brings the franchise back to a Western audience that first discovered Ragnarok Online on PC in the early 2000s. This new entry keeps the familiar class system and chibi-anime aesthetic, but shifts the action to a fully 3D, touch-friendly environment that reflects the broader trend of classic MMOs finding second lives on phones and tablets.

Players can already pre-register on Google Play and the App Store to reserve a character name and collect a few launch-day perks. Beyond that, the studio shared a concise feature list:

  • Six starter classes: Swordman, Archer, Mage, Thief, Acolyte, and Merchant—with branching job upgrades.
  • Extensive character customization through costumes, dyes, and cosmetic gear.
  • More than 60 recruitable mercenaries plus 26 pet types that can assist in combat.
  • Instanced dungeons, open-world grinding spots, and familiar guild activities drawn from the original PC game.

Ragnarok V: Returns is being handled by South Korean developer NX3 Games, a Gravity subsidiary. The company has spent the past few years modernizing the IP for mobile, including titles like Ragnarok M: Eternal Love and Ragnarok X: Next Generation.
