PSO2: New Genesis Details October Update and New EX Style System

Sega’s free-to-play action MMO Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis is lining up a sizable patch for early October. The headline feature is “EX Style,” a new layer of character customization that sits alongside the game’s existing class system. The update also folds in a week-long Crimson Realm event, a fresh mini episode, and a bump to the global level cap.

Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis averages ~1,100 players on Steam and remains one of Sega's consistent cashcows. While it's more popular in Japan than the global English version, Sega remains commited to the global English version of the game.

Main additions at a glance

• EX Style system – Players can equip one of three Styles to unlock an “After Blast” super move, earn Style-specific skills, and level a shared Style tree across all characters.
• Level cap rise to 110 – All standard classes gain ten more levels, pairing naturally with the new Style grind.
• C/Tera Triyal augment – A high-tier gear upgrade crafted at the Item Lab using existing Giga Triyal capsules plus the new Grau Triya drops.
• Faltek Face option – An expanded variant of the mechanical-themed face type, with toggles for eyelashes and eyelids to enable more eye customization.
• Crimson Realm rotation – A one-week event starting October 1 that shifts between Belugana Ruins and Lost Central, featuring tougher Starless enemies and an elevated chance for PSE Burst Forte or Encore.
• Mini Episode continuation – Story content that follows up on August’s chapter, including side tasks focused on Hibana’s ties to Crawford and Glen.
