Pearl Abyss Continues Development On Standalone Version Of Black Desert Online Shadow Arena
Late last year, Pearl Abyss announced a battle royale mode for Black Desert Online called Shadow Arena. After a short testing phase, the mode officially went live in February 2019 only to be shut down a few months later in April due to issues with hacking, cheating, and smurf accounts that took too much of the developers’ time. Time that, according to the studio, would have been better spent on the main game.
But, because of the recent popularity of battle royale games, Pearl Abyss opted to relaunch the game as a standalone mode instead. The official announcement was made in the studio’s Q2 Financial Report back in August.
A new teaser trailer for the Shadow Arena standalone game has just been released in Korea. You can check that out after the break courtesy of MMOCulture. Pearl Abyss will also be showcasing the standalone battle royale game next month at G-Star 2019.
