Path of Exile's newest expansion, titled 'Siege of the Atlas', is launching on February 4, 2022 on PC and February 9th on consoles. With the new expansion comes a new league titled 'The Archnemesis League'. Grinding Gear Games released the latest trailer for Siege of the Atlas below and released additional details on the update as well.

Path of Exile: Siege of the Atlas Official Trailer

Grinding Gear Games already mentioned that the last league, Scourge, will not become a core mechanic in the game. As the name of the new expansion implies, Siege of the Atlas will focus heavily on end-game Atlas content. One of the key changes to the Atlas is the removal of Watch Stones entirely. Players can still increase the difficulty of maps by acquiring Void Stones from defeating the Uber Elder, The Maven, The Searching Exarch, and the Eater of Worlds.

New features of Path of Exile: Siege of the Atlas include:

New Archnemesis league - This new league reinvigorates fights again rare monsters. It introduces 60 new monster mods and allows players to customize their rare boss fights to control their own risks and rewards. Players can find petrified monster statues and fight them for rewards based on the itemized monster mods they place into the statues.

New Pinnacle Bosses - 4 new pinnacle bosses The Searing Exarch and the Eater of Worlds along with their sub-bosses the Black Star and the Infinite Hunger. These are similar to other Atlas bosses like the Elder, the Shaper, the Maven, and Sirus.

New Atlas Mechanics - Watch stones have been removed entirely, but players can still increase the level of all their maps by acquiring Void Stones.

New Unique items - The 4 new atlas bosses all drop new unique items. New unique forbidden jewels can be used to unlock powerful new abilities.

An Atlas-Wide Passive Tree - Regional atlas passive trees are being removed and replaced by a single new massive skill tree with over 600 passives. Players can obtain 117 atlas skill points by completing their atlas with bonuses available for completing bonus map objectives and defeating the Maven's multi boss fights. Atlas skills will enhance characters on any map they're on.

New End Game Item Mechanic Eldritch Implicit Modifiers - Players can apply eldritch mods to existing good items rather than having to find very specific items to upgrade, which gives players much more freedom on how to create their favorite items.

New Currency Items for Implicit Modifiers - Eldritch Ember (Searching Exarch) and Eldritch Ichor (Eater of Worlds) can be used to roll new implicit mods on helmets, gloves, body armor, and boots. Items can have one implicit from EACH of these 2 new currencies for a total of 2 implicits. These implicits are pulled from a new pool of powerful modifiers. Applying the same orb will override the same type of mod with a new one. Each mod has 6 tiers of power with the first 4 available from these new currency items. The last 2 tiers can only be accessed by a special currency called the 'Orb of Conflict' which increases 1 mod's tier while lowering another, so these new implicits will be capped at level 6 and 4 on any single piece of gear. 3 other new currency items: Eldritch Chaos Orb, Eldritch Exalted Orb, and Edlritch Orb of Annulment can be used to re-roll or change modifiers.

Game Balance Changes - Most balance changes are buffs but some of the most over powered builds will be nerfed.
