Path Of Exile Explains Reasons For Atlas Of Worlds Changes Coming With The Delirium Expansion
Earlier this week, Grinding Gear Games revealed some of the changes coming to the Atlas of Worlds in Path of Exile when the Delirium expansion goes live next week. Most of the planned changes, however, didn’t sit well with the players, prompting the developers to publish a Development Manifesto to discuss the community’s concerns.
According to the devs, they “inadvertently” increased map drop rates through a number of mechanisms and improvements in Delirium and the decreased overall map drop rate should be enough to balance it out. “Playing through the Atlas in 3.10.0 will still result in a flood of maps compared to pre-3.9.0 Path of Exile,” says the devs. “If you're worried about not being able to sustain maps easily, you needn't be. It feels good in our testing so far, and we will be keeping a very close eye on this.”
In addition, GGG says that the issue of Cartographers Seals going against the natural Atlas progression is still being discussed internally. “Ideally we'd prefer that things were designed in a way where un-completing maps was not necessary. We want players to earn map completion and bonuses objectives and to feel good about having them.” They also assured players that they will be making adjustments to the Map Mod Effect so it doesn’t have too much of a negative effect on certain builds.
The studio also gives the community an overview of the two new Wand Skill gems and wand changes that will be introduced in the upcoming expansion, specifically Kinetic Bolt, Spellslinger, and Wandslinger notable. You can check out the new dev blog here.
