Past Fate Revamps Newharbor So Players Don’t Get Stuck Between Mountains And The Undead

Icy North Games recently added a new region in Past Fate called Newharbor which was probably good in theory but ended up having an annoying design flaw. The region was originally situated between mountains on one side and a swarm of undead on the other. The only way in and out of the region was to fight your way through the undead horde. Unfortunately, this becomes quite tedious when returning a quest and there’s nothing more annoying than getting swarmed by mobs on the return journey.

The good news is that the team has fixed the issue with the latest patch by opening up Newharbor and connecting it properly to the Kingdom of Edaria. They’ve also added lootable chests across the game world to make exploring that much more rewarding. These chests contain randomly-generated items from a loot set that players can collect.

Icy North has also added the Stone Axe which is now required to cut down trees for use in crafting. Birch Trees have also been added around the starting areas to give players more trees to use their new Stone Axe on. There’s also new quests available for both factions as well as a War Horn feature that players can use to alert their allies (and possibly their enemies) to their location.

In addition, the Vafalk faction now have access to a sacrificial altar that will grant them limited-time buffs to help them in their adventures. Morsath players will get their own version of the altar soon promised the devs.

Overall, it’s a small but meaningful patch for the indie survival sandbox MMORPG. The full release notes can be found on the Past Fate Steam page.
