Pantheon: Rise Of The Fallen Isn‘t Shutting The Door On ‘Qualified’ Volunteer Developers

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen’s painfully slow development has been a hot topic for the game’s community this past week, especially with the recent reveal of an extraction spinoff called 247 that’s being developed alongside the main game. It’s gotten to the point that fans have begun offering their services as volunteer developers to help speed up the upcoming MMORPG’s development.

In response, Creative Director Chris Perkins said that they’re not planning or actively seeking out volunteers. As a former volunteer on the project himself, he explained that there are also legal complications to consider when working with volunteers. However, if the individual is qualified and shares the same dedication, drive, and passion, they may decide to negotiate a contract with them.

Perkins also admitted that he’s currently the only full-time developer working on Pantheon. The rest of the team is made up of part-time developers, who he noted often work full-time hours. He also reiterated their commitment to doing “whatever is necessary” to make sure that the game is launched short of making the game free-to-play and adding microtransactions.

For now, the creative director says that they’ll continue to hire developers from the community just as they’ve always done but will also remain open to the possibility of hiring volunteers.

Perkins answers questions on volunteer work and other pressing issues in the latest Discord Q&A session below.
