Palia Launches On The Epic Games Store And Opens New Servers In Europe

As promised, Cozy MMO Palia is now available to download and play on the Epic Games Store along with the opening of its first European servers. You won’t have to say goodbye to your friends across the world though as cross-region play will still be allowed.
Players will be able to see their friends’ online status, chat with them, and even form parties with them regardless of what server they’re on. It looks like the servers will still be separate worlds though, but developer Singularity 6 says that the matchmaking will ensure that friends are always kept on the same server.
“We have an automatic matchmaking system that will determine the best region to place you in each time you log into the game,” developer Singularity 6 explained. “It will always attempt to select the region in which you will experience the least latency, which should generally be your local region. You can, however, still play with your friends across regions anytime you wish. You can party up or invite them to your server, which will override the default matchmaking settings.”
The studio is also planning to open additional servers all across the world to support more regions and languages. They don’t want to rush into things though, so it’ll probably take time before they open up a new server region.
“Supporting EU servers and being on the Epic Games Store is a major milestone for us, and we hope these steps bring us one step closer to being a game everyone across the world can enjoy,” said the studio.
A new patch also rolled out alongside the EGS launch and new EU servers. The patch mainly consists of new premium outfits and various bug fixes, but players can expect the next two patches to be “pretty hearty” ones.
