Overwatch Closed Beta Back For Round 2

Following a short break, the Overwatch Closed Beta is back. Players in the Americas and Europe that have active Beta accounts can now jump right back into the action. The new round of Beta introduced a new progression system, a new mode, new maps, an option to play versus AI, an overhauled set of custom game options, and balance updates.
The new progression system is based on a system of experience and leveling. Experience earned in each match is based on "participation," whether you win or lose, "medals and commendations" you earn, and several other factors. Quick Play games award more experience than if you play versus the AI. For each level you gain, you will earn a loot box, each of which contains various cosmetic items.
The new game mode is called Control. It is described as a mode in which "two teams fight over a series of objective areas in a best-of-three format." To capture an objective area, you simply have to stand within it. The first team to reach 100% control wins the round. With each round, the objective area will change until one team wins two rounds. This mode currently has two maps—Lijiang Tower and Nepal.
More players are continuing to be invited to the Closed Beta, so don't worry if you have yet to be invited. In the meantime, check out the developer update below for a look at what has changed.
