Blizzard VP Confirms All Overwatch 2 Heroes Can Be Unlocked For Free

If Blizzard was a boat it would have sunk a long time ago with the constant stream of leaks that have springing from the studio over the past few months, the latest of which are information on the still-unannounced Overwatch 2 support hero and a listing for a premium pack that accidentally went up on the Blizzard Store yesterday.
The listing for a so-called Watchpoint Pack includes a description of the pack’s contents along with more information about the sequel’s premium battle pass. Players will apparently get to unlock the new support hero Kiriko as part of the premium reward track which naturally led to the question of whether the hero will be available at all for those who’d rather not spend money on the game.
Blizzard Vice President Jon Spector, however, was quick to clarify that Kiriko, the first support here to be added to the shooter since Baptiste in 2019, will be available on the free battle pass track and not on the paid one in line with Blizzard’s design philosophy of not locking essential content, especially heroes, behind a paywall.
Spector also assured players that Kiriko can be acquired through other methods should they fail to unlock her through the battle pass, although he failed to elaborate on what those methods are. Regardless, the community can now rest assured that they won’t have to open their wallets to be able to play as the new support hero.
