Otherland Launching Into Early Access On August 26th
It seems that Otherland is more than just alive. Rather, it's close to launching. After six years in development, two of which have been spent with Drago Entertainment, on August 26th, the game will hit Steam Early Access. The team has decided to go through Early Access rather than "the traditional closed beta phase" because they believe that it will further involve the community in the final beta phases.
With this release, Drago Entertainment are claiming to have one of the most advanced titles on Steam Early Access, boasting the ability to "collect and clone" items and NPCs, as well as own housing and take part in extensive PvP features. Clan housing and clan wars were just announced earlier this week and will be live shortly after Early Access begins.
The final release is planned for early 2016. No word on a price for Early Access buy-ins but it will not be free at first. During beta, there will be a buy-in fee and, instead of an item shop, optional DLC. The final business model is to be decided and "may differ between regions."
