Open-Source MMORPG Ryzom Drastically Slashes Premium Subscription Fees

Good news for Ryzom players! The open-source sandbox MMORPG’s developer and publisher, Nevrax, has considerably lowered its optional subscription prices and now allows players to gift subscriptions to their friends. The fee changes are now live starting at €1.50 per week on Xsolla. Subscriptions paid through PayPal and Steam start at a minimum of one month for €3.90 and €4.90, respectively.

This isn’t the first time that Nevrax lowered subscription fees and probably won’t be the last, although I’m not sure how low they can go as the current fees are low enough as it is for a 17-year-old game. Note that subbing is entirely optional but it does come with exclusive perks like no skill level limits on gear, double XP, access to free player and guild housing, increased storage, and free character renames every six months.

For those who’d rather not spend real money, the game is free-to-play with microtransactions and is also one of the few MMOs that’s open source which means that you can set up your own private server and have all the perks of a premium subscriber and more.
