NetEase and Starry Studio’s new free-to-play survival shooter Once Human is turning out to be an unexpected hit on Steam despite the technical problems plaguing the fledgling title. The team reports that the game has been downloaded over 10 million times since its official launch in July and is currently the ninth top-selling game on Steam in the United States and tenth globally.
Once Human is also raking in Mostly Positive reviews on the platform, with players praising its solid gameplay loop and building systems as well as the team’s dedication to keeping the game absolutely free-to-play with no pay-to-win mechanics.
