No Man’s Sky Endurance Update Now Live With New Captain Features And Content

No Man’s Sky is celebrating its 6th anniversary with the release of its big Endurance update that allows players to feel more like the captain of a capital ship, just like the ones in their favorite space sci-fi shows and movies. The Endurance update builds upon the captaincy feature which was first introduced in 2016 and overhauls the entire experience with a literal ship-load of new content.
Your freighters and capital ships now have a new bridge from which you can command your fleet, access to instant teleportation and warping, external windows to watch the cosmos, exterior platforms and catwalks, and dynamic NPC crewmembers to fill up the inside of your ship.
“Freighters now bustle with specialist crew members walking around your base. Engineers, biologists and technicians display their thoughts as they patrol the base, and your hired frigate captains and squadron pilots visit your capital ship between their deep-space excursions.”
The interior of your capital ship can also be further customized with new pre-decorated themed rooms that can be redecorated to your heart’s desire, or with blank rooms that you can design from the ground up. You can also use newly-added technology to analyze and scan planets from space eliminating the need to actually step foot on them.
“Endurance brings a complete overhaul of freighters and fleets, allowing players to live and work aboard their home in the stars, together with their own crew. A new bridge brings a range of quality of life improvements, with instant access to warping and teleportation. Players can now build vast freighter bases on a scale not seen before, with specially themed areas and new features for growing food and manufacturing, and new technology like the ability to scan and analyse planets from space.”
Space visuals have also been improved with a larger variety of asteroids, new inter-stellar black holes, nebulae, and more. There’s also a new Expedition as well as new combat-focused Nexus missions to take on.
“Endurance coincides with No Man’s Sky’s 6-year anniversary and it remains amazing to us to see players still clocking up a bewildering number of hours in the game all these years later,” says Hello Games Co-Founder Sean Murray in the accompanying blog post. “We are eternally grateful for the support.”
