No Man’s Sky Adds Abandoned Procedural-Generated Freighters With The Desolation Update

Update 2.6, a.k.a. Desolation, is now live on the No Man’s Sky servers. One of the main features of the update is the addition of procedural-generated derelict freighter wreckages that players can explore to salvage unique ship upgrades and other rewards. These abandoned freighters offer various challenges for players including broken life-support systems, malfunctioning AI security, and hostile aliens.

The update also comes with a whole host of visual improvements such as enhanced bloom effects and lens flare, as well as new volumetric lighting sources. Weapon visuals have also been improved including muzzle flash, crosshairs, camera shake, and projective visibility.
