Inflexion Games’ upcoming Victorian-era survival sandbox title, Nightingale, is an ambitious shared-world game that promises multiverse-style gameplay with inter-realm travel. Realmwalkers will be able to open portals to different Fae realms using the realm card system as they try to make their way to the last surviving bastion of humanity, the eponymous city of Nightingale.

Creating such a complex system, however, takes time. Time that Inflexion is running short on if it hopes to have the game ready for release by the end of the year. With that in mind, the studio has opted to delay the game’s early access launch to sometime in the first half of 2023.

“Inflexion Games is committed to delivering the best possible experience and fulfilling the promise of what Nightingale’s universe has to offer to players,” said the studio. “To achieve that, the additional time will allow the team to make key gameplay improvements, bolster content, and polish gameplay.

The team has also decided to upgrade the game to Unreal Engine 5 instead of waiting after the game’s launch to make the switch, which is also part of the reason why decided to push back its launch to next year. Inflexion promises to deliver additional development updates in the coming weeks.
