Nexon To Showcase Virtual Reality MapleStory Game

Nexon will unveil a playable version of a virtual reality MapleStory Game at G-Star 2015. Attendees at the Global Game exhibition will don either an Oculus Rift or Samsung Gear VR to immerse themselves in MapleStory's world. There has been no announcement that MapleStory VR is in active development. And it could be a publicity stunt, or a side project Nexon has been working on (anyone remember the Zelda Gamecube tech demo?).
It's a bit surprising that the demo adopts the aesthetic style of the original game rather than MapleStory 2. Perhaps it's an indication that MapleStory 2 has yet to parallel the influence of its predecessor.
The news arrives after Nexon Korea's mobile game Pocket MapleStory released worldwide—MMOs.com had a chance to interview the team working on the portable project. If released, MapleStory VR signifies a growing diaspora for the MapleStory franchise, stepping into unexpected territory. I'm personally hoping to see the project come to fruition. MapleStory's simple gameplay and worlds serve as a perfect introduction VR gaming.
