nexon-kr

Nexon reported increased quarterly earnings today which showed revenues up 7% year over year (Q4 2016 vs Q4 2015) on a constant currency basis. On the yearly side 2016 full year revenues were up 17% compared to 2015. The company attributed strong earnings to stronger than expected results of key titles (think Dungeon Fighter Online and MapleStory) in China and South Korea. DFO's successful winter update in China and in-game sales were specifically cited as reasons for strong earnings. Similar to last quarter, North America (5%) and Europe (6%) remain a tiny portion of the company's overall revenues with South Korea (43%) and China (35%) being the company's largest markets.

One interesting tidbit that made it into one of the investor slides is that Lawbreakers is set to launch in 2017 in North America along with Dynasty Warriors Unleashed, a mobile game based on Dynasty Warriors 7. MapleStory 2 is set to launch in China later in 2017 as well.

Nexon expects continued growth in 2017 with revenues expected to increase 9% - 17% year over year in Q1 2017.
