New World is once again smooshing its servers together in order to maintain a healthy population as its playerbase continues to dwindle. The merges will affect all operating regions, including US East, US West, Central EU, Australian, and South America and will take effect tomorrow, July 22nd after a two-hour maintenance downtime.

Upon consolidation, players on the US East region will be left with four servers to choose from, those in US West will be left with two servers, Central EU will have six, and Australia and South America will be merged into a single server.

Amazon Game Studio has consolidated New World’s servers several times over the past year as player numbers continue to plummet from an all-time peak concurrency of over 913,000 players on launch day to a 24-hour peak of just over 16,000 concurrent players yesterday. That’s a staggering 98% drop in the eight months since the open-world fantasy MMORPG’s launch.

Meanwhile, the devs are gearing up for the start of the Summer Medleyfaire event with a series of sneak peeks courtesy of a social media-savvy bard on Instagram.
