New World Rolls Back EU Servers After Accidentally Giving Away Huge Sums Of Gold

It’s a new day in New World, and with it a new economy-breaking bug. As compensation for the series of gold duping and housing exploits that kept popping up in the game over the past few weeks, Amazon Game Studios has temporarily reduced housing taxes and increased company income from homeowners in addition to a one-time refund for war declarations.
Murphy’s Law immediately kicked in and players started reporting that they’ve received excessive amounts of gold. Weirdly enough, the issue was only confined to EU servers which Amazon promptly fixed by rolling back the servers by a few hours and temporarily disabling the trading post while they rebuild the trading post database.
“Upon examination, it was clear that there was no clean path to reversing only the players who were granted money, as the secondary effects were widespread and involved many more players and systems. We therefore made the decision to roll back characters, companies and the trading post to [. . .] just before the database modification was implemented.”
Unfortunately, the rollback also resulted in characters who were transferred during the lost hours to be stuck in virtual limbo. The team has apparently fixed the issue as of this writing and are now working on restoring the trading post to working order.
“[. . .] We now know this will some take time and then we’ll need to test and verify the results. This will not be resolved today. We will update you when we have more information. I apologize for the delay,” said one of the devs on the official forums.
