New World has just received its first Rise of the Angry Earth post-launch update, the first one that’s not a hotfix anyway. Update 3.0.1 kicks off the medieval fantasy MMORPG’s Halloween event as Baalphazu returns to sow terror in Aeternum.

“Nightveil Hallow returns as Baalphazu, Marquis of Terror rises once again on October 18 until November 14,” Amazon Game Studios announced. “Banish the shadowy demon back to the darkness, don unique costumes, and trick-or-treat for new candy rewards. You can also purchase new and returning event-specific items in the Event Shop.”

Those event-specific items include the Midnight Portents Armor Bundle, the Fatebound Ossuary Weapon Bundle, the Séance Mask Bundle, and the Ritual Hut. New non-Halloween-themed items have also been added to the cash shop, including a T-Rex walk emote.

The update also introduced an extensive list of bug fixes, balance tweaks, quality-of-life improvements, and general gameplay adjustments. Details can be found in the full patch notes here.

Meanwhile, Amazon Game Studio has dropped another Forged in Aeternum video where the engineering team talks about previous and upcoming upgrades to the game’s matchmaking system, servers, queues, and cross-world activities. You can check that out down below.
