Those proclaiming the death of New World may be a bit early with their predictions. New World experienced a huge surge in players today and is on sale (50% off) for $19.99 until November 8th. The game also launched fresh start servers today which have been extremely popular leading to a huge increase in active players. Steamcharts is reporting over 119,000 peak concurrent players today.

To celebrate the launch of these fresh start servers, New World is hosting a unique speedrunning event with challenges ranging from PvE quests and boss kills. Players that watch streamers who are furthest along the speed run have a better chance of receiving higher tier twitch drops too, which means the best players will get the most viewers. This is a unique way to incentive players to Stream New World, as giant Twitch personalities won't necessarily get the most viewers; the best players will.

While New World's launch has been plagued with bugs and exploits (including dupes), many of the game's initial issues have been patched. A massive new update, Brimstone Sands, also launched recently to keep players busy.

The entire new player experience has also been revamped with the first 25 levels overhauled based on player feedback. If you've ever been curious about New World, now's a great time to give the game a chance and if you played in the past, it's also a good time to come back and see what's new.
