New World Fixes Fellowship & Fire’s Naked Character Issue And Offers Compensation

After a week-long delay, Amazon Game Studios finally rolled out New World’s Fellowship & Fire update, marking the start of the game’s first season. Unfortunately, the season’s highly-awaited launch was spoiled by a few glaring issues that the team missed during testing which included a bug that stripped some characters of all of their gear, leaving them rooted to one spot, naked and over-encumbered at the same time.
The team has managed to figure out the cause of the issue and has rolled out a global hotfix that should prevent the issue from happening again in the future. Affected players, however, will need to individually submit a ticket to have their items and equipment restored.
“We have established that this situation only affects characters that disconnected from New World before the Season 1 update, and were either killed before the next login, or disconnect the Death’s Door screen,” Amazon explained. “This issue does not impact characters that disconnect in either of the above states after the Season 1 of Fellowship and Fire was released. It is only those who were in a ‘death’s door’ state before the update.”
“Due to the delicate nature of restoring these lost items without loss of progress, this issue will be resolved in two parts,” the studio added. “To say thank you for your patience and understanding, we’ll be providing impacted players with 50,000 Marks of Fortune asynchronously from the patch.”
Despite the issues with Fellowship & Fire, the update’s release has catapulted New World to the top of Steam’s top sellers list. The open-world MMORPG’s playerbase also saw a slight boost from an average daily peak concurrency of around 20,000 to roughly 25,000 players.
