New Overwatch Game Director Announces Overwatch 2 Showcase On May 20
Over the past two years, Blizzard Entertainment has been giving Overwatch players and fans brief glimpses into the PvE elements of Overwatch 2. On May 20th, the studio will be hosting a livestream where they’ll be showing off the PvP side of the upcoming sequel.
“[. . .] The Overwatch and Overwatch League teams will be putting together a livestream, where we'll talk more about the PvP side of the game,” said Aaron Keller in his first update video as the new Game Director.
Keller and other members of the team will be playing through the new maps and will be talking about the philosophy behind the PvP changes coming to Overwatch 2. They will also be holding an AMA session Reddit on May 24 to address the community’s concerns and questions about the sequel in general. A separate thread will also be dedicated to talking about the franchise’s 5th anniversary and all the work that went into creating the game over the past five years.
Overwatch 2 will definitely not be launching this year and it’s still unclear whether that will happen next year. What we do know is that the sequel will build on the existing elements in Overwatch and will include a full PvE story campaign based on the characters and universe introduced in the original game.
Aaron Keller took up the mantle of Game Director following Jeff Kaplan’s departure from the company in late April. You can check out his first update video below.
