Neverwinter Devs Answer Questions About Module 21, Level Squish, And Endgame Content

Ever since Cryptic Studios announced that they were bringing Neverwinter’s level cap back down to 20, the community has expressed concerns about the drastic effects that the change will have on gameplay. Aside from several blogs explaining the reason behind the leveling changes, the team also held an AMA session on Reddit earlier this week to answer some burning level squish-related questions from the community.
As previously reported, the level squish will be implemented with Module 21 to bring the game back to its D&D roots and allow players to access endgame content more quickly. According to the devs, item level requirements for existing high-level instances, such as The Vault of Stars and Zariel’s Challenge, will remain the same, although the lower level cap should allow players to gain access to these instances faster than before.
In line with the changes, several zones will also be temporarily removed until they can be reworked for the new progression curve. As for mastercraft materials that can only be acquired from the removed regions, the team says that they will be moved to other leveling zones along with existing profession maps and quests.
Cryptic also assured the community that they won’t have to respec their current builds when the new level cap is implemented and that the only thing changing is the amount of time it takes to hit max level. The team also said that they’ll be keeping a close eye on gold earnings to make sure that the change doesn’t affect the players’ abilities to buy potions and disenchant their gear.
We’re still waiting on word on a release for Module 21. We’ll let you know as soon as news comes out. In the meantime, you can check out the full AMA thread on Reddit to learn more about Module 21 and the upcoming level-squish.
