Netease Unveils Project Mugen - A Beautiful Open World RPG Set in Modern Metropolis

Netease, the 2nd biggest game developer in China, unveiled Project Mugen today which is an open world RPG set in a modern metropolis. It looks like Netease's answer to Genshin Impact and the game looks absolutely beautiful. Project Mugen will be free to play and is coming to PC, Mobile, PS4, and PS5.

Pre-registrations for the game are open now, but there's no firm release date just yet. No word on what kind of multiplayer components Project Mugen will have either, but we'll likely find out more soon.

The quality of Chinese developed games have gone through the roof over the last few years, especially since Genshin Impact launched back in 2020. At least on the mobile front it seems like Western and Japanese developers are falling behind.

Fast Paced Traversal and Vehicles: Every character has a basic movement skill such as parkour, swinging, or wall-climbing. Some characters also have a unique travel ability based on their individual identity, like riding a special war hammer. Players can also intercept and ride vehicles like cars in the city.
