Neowiz Announces Siege Royale - Blockchain NFT Play to Earn Battle Royale Game

Neowiz, the South Korean game developer and publisher best known for Bless Online, announced their 1st blockchain game this last week titled Siege Royale. Siege Royale is a battle royale game with 'Play to Earn' and 'NFT' elements built on Unreal Engine 5. The game is scheduled to launch sometime later this year in 2022.

Siege Royale is being developed by Neowiz's new Blockchain / NFT / Play to Earn subsidiary called Metarama which is also developing numerous other games using the same technology.

While there's been an insane amount of enthusiasm behind play to earn / crypto games, time will tell if any of these games have lasting power. Heavy hitters like Mir 4 and Axie Infinity are doing really well for now, but the play to earn currency in these games have been quickly plummeting in value. Mir 4 hit over 1.4 million concurrent players in November.

The universe of game companies working on these kinds of projects continues to grow. Square Enix, NCSoft, Capcom, and Ubisoft have also announced various blockchain gaming projects.
