Ncsoft’s new shooter Cinder City set for Gamescom debut Tomorrow

South Korean publisher Ncsoft, best known for long-running MMORPGs like Lineage and Aion, is ready to show its next big swing: Cinder City. The MMO tactical shooter, once code-named Project LLL, will share the spotlight during Gamescom’s Opening Night Live on 19 August. It is scheduled to hit PC and unnamed consoles in 2026.

Developed by internal studio BigFire Games, Cinder City drops players into a ruined, near-future Seoul where squads in powered armor fight for survival while chasing a personal story about a missing child. The reveal comes as more online shooters adopt open-world structures similar to The Division or Destiny 2, and Ncsoft clearly wants a piece of the pie.

  • World premiere trailer – new gameplay footage will air during Opening Night Live at 8:00 p.m. CEST (11:00 a.m. PT).
  • Playable at Gamescom – select press and creators can test an early build at Ncsoft’s business-area booth (Hall 4.2, D-011) for three days.
  • Nvidia partnership – the PC version supports ray tracing, DLSS 4 and Reflex. A separate tech trailer will screen at Nvidia’s GeForce RTX event, with demo stations powered by upcoming GeForce RTX 50-series cards.
  • Cloud option – Cinder City is also planned for Nvidia’s GeForce Now streaming service.
  • Part of a wider slate – Ncsoft says the shooter leads a 2025-26 lineup that includes six unannounced projects.

Ncsoft’s shift toward a shooter is notable for a company whose catalog has long leaned on traditional MMOs. With Korean rivals like Krafton and Pearl Abyss also courting global shooter audiences, Gamescom will offer an early look at whether Cinder City can stand out in an increasingly crowded space.
