Myth Of Empires Copyright Battle Comes To An End With Snail Games On Top

The legal battle between Angela Game and complainants Studio Wildcard and Snail Games has come to rather anti-climactic end.
For context, Studio Wildcard and Snail Games filed a copyright complaint against Angela Game and its medieval Asian sandbox MMO Myth of Empires for using allegedly stolen code from ARK: Survival Evolved. In line with Steam’s policies, the game was promptly yanked from Steam and has yet to return to the digital storefront.
Angela Game responded by filing a lawsuit against Studio Wildcard and Snail Games to recover damages with the latter party filing their own counter-suit shortly after. Not to be deterred, Angela also opted to sell the game through their website and relaunched the early access game using their own standalone client.
Both parties have now come to an agreement nearly two years after the first shots were fired. The terms of the settlement were disclosed but it looks like Snail Games is now acting as Myth of Empire’s publisher and will be helping Angela Game relaunch the sandbox title on PC and possible other platforms in the future. Angela will also be paying royalty fees to Snail Games.
Angela Game also appears to have admitted to using copyrighted assets in its official statement. “Angela acknowledges that it caused difficulties for Snail’s business. By working together, Angela and Snail will put those difficulties behind them,” studio president Yi Ling Zhang said. “ Angela regrets any difficulties it caused Snail and look forward to moving into this business partnership.”
Direct sales from the Myth of Empire website has now been suspended. The team assured those who already purchased the game that they’ll still be able to play and promises to inform fans when it becomes available for purchase again.
