Move Games Launches ARPG Redemption On Steam Early Access

Over the past two years, four games by Move Games have made it through Greenlight: Digimon Masters Online, NOIR, Power Rangers Online, and Redemption. However, for quite some time, none of them had made it onto Steam and it seemed that there was a chance that none of them ever would. That changed last Friday, when Redemption was launched on Steam Early Access just over two years after it was first posted to Greenlight.
Redemption is a character-based ARPG set in a steampunk world. The current version is said to be somewhat of a complete rewrite of the game that users first saw on Greenlight two years ago. Players can choose from a set of six characters and set out to kill hordes of enemies in an ARPG fashion. It features four modes: Boss, Dungeon, PvP, and Survival. As of right now, the Dungeon mode are only eleven stages that are each one of two types of dungeon and PvP consists of only a "PvP for Annihilation," which is a timed deathmatch of sorts. Future updates are set to include 12 new characters, new dungeon types and stages, quests, and a "PvP for Destruction" PvP mode in which you are required to destroy the other team's guardian.
Interestingly enough, Redemption launched as a buy-to-play title at a price of $14.99 and it is noted that the price may even increase after the title leaves Early Access. It seems that more traditionally free-to-play oriented companies are trying out the buy-to-play business model, perhaps in hopes that it will be more successful here in the West. However, it remains to be seen whether Move Games will use the buy-to-play model for its other titles.
