Mobile MMORPG Ragnarok Origin Begins Pre-Registrations

The Ragnarok Online based mobile MMORPG Ragnarok Origin opened pre-registrations on August 10th. The game has been a hit so far in Japan where its been available since June 28th, 2021 and is looking to expand globally in English speaking markets.

Gravity, the game's Korean developer, describes Ragnarok Origin as "Faithfully embodying the feeling of original Ragnarok Online released for PC back in 2002, the game provides a great chance for players, old and new, to dive into the land of Midgard on mobile where new adventures await."

Ragnarok Origin is yet another mobile game based on the popular 2002 PC MMORPG. Gravity seems to be churning these mobile Ragnarok games out like clockwork as Ragnarok Origin is now the 6th mobile Ragnarok game. Other include: Ragnarok M: Eternal Love, Go Ragnarok, Ragnarok Tactics, Ragnarok: Labyrinth, and Ragnarok: Poring Merge. While I suspect Ragnarok Origin won't be much like the PC MMORPG, the familiar graphics and world will definitely have appeal to fans of the classic MMO. The game's success in Japan also bodes well for an international release, though many successful games in Japan and South Korea have flopped in the West (Lineage 2: Revolution comes to mind).
