Master X Master Releases Post-Launch Dev Q&A
Master X Master steps up their developer Q&A game by enlisting the help of cosplayer Cheezecake. Dressed up as Innowin, Cheezecake, relays questions from the MxM community to Brand Manager Sean Orlikowski, Director of Marketing, Sean Corcoran, and Community Manager Deirdre “DD” Holis.
One of the focuses of the Q&A is NCSoft’s advertising campaign. According to the devs they’re relying more on social media and streamers to get the word out to the gaming community. “If you think about it, a 30-second spot on YouTube, or something like that, you can’t really convey all of what MxM is in that short time so you try and hit the key beats,” says Corcoran. “But for people to really understand the game they have to either play themselves or watch other people playing it to see the depth of the game.”
When asked about new Masters, the devs say that aside from the Ghost Widow surprise on launch day, they’re planning to add six to eight new Masters per year but they were reluctant to say who exactly these Masters will be. Orlikowski, however, reveals that, “They’re going to be a combination of brand new characters and NCSoft characters so don’t think that every character that comes out is going to be someone that you know.” In addition to new Masters, new skins will also be constantly added into the game, including seasonal ones at certain times during the year such as Hexwitch Lilu which was initially available during the alpha and beta but was removed for the launch version of the game.
The devs also confirmed a new 5-player PvE game-mode called the Medium Defense Line that’s due to come out in a few months and promises to look into increasing difficulty beyond Nightmare mode as soon as players start completing it, which apparently no one has done yet. The team also talks about game balance, ranked content, and their plant to enter the eSports scene. Check out the full Master X Master Dev Q&A video after the break.
