Loric Games Picks Up SWTOR Producer Jeff Hickman And A $4 Million Investment

Back in 2022, a group of veteran Mythic Entertainment developers, including co-founder Rob Denton, founded a new studio called Loric Games with plans to develop a multiplayer survival sandbox game. Another big name in the video game industry has now joined the studio as Jeff Hickman takes on the role of Chief Production Officer.
“Joining the talented team at Loric is like coming back home,” says Hickman in the official press release. “We’re not just colleagues; we’re co-conspirators in a grand adventure.” He’s credited as the top producer for several well-known MMO’s including Star Wars The Old Republic, Warhammer: Age of Reckoning, and Dark Age of Camelot.
The studio also picked up a $4 million investment in a recent funding round led by venture capital firm 1AM Gaming. “[It’s] a testament to the studio’s potential in shaping the future of online gaming,” says the studio. “The investment will empower Loric Games to amplify its efforts in creating cutting-edge co-op RPGs, fostering innovation and excellence in a genre that’s ready for something new and unique.”
Loric Games has yet to reveal what its cooking up within its walls, but recent job posts and graphics on the studio’s official website hint at a story-based open-world survival fantasy game with robotic contraptions and crafting. We’re hoping for more information soon, now that they’ve got $4 million in the bank to fast track its development.
