The Umbar Crafting Guild is now accepting new members into its ranks as Update 38.1.1 goes live in Lord of the Rings Online. The port city’s crafting guild, however, has pretty high standards in place and will only allow you to join if you’re an honored member of another crafting guild and have earned their trust, so to speak.

“Joining the Umbar guild requires that you be an Honoured Master of a crafting Guild and then earn enough reputation with the guild to become an Umbar Guild Member,” developer Standing Stone Games explains. “This is a departure from how we wanted to implement the new guild, but as we discussed previously, some old decisions with the crafting system provided a smooth way to excise the previous tiers and make the transition seamless. As a result, we are adding ways for you to move through into the Umbar Guild Member tier quickly.”

Once you’ve been accepted into the guild, you’ll gain access to a variety of guild-exclusive crafting recipes for gear, items, consumables, and tools, including special upgradeable ones that you can trade with other players. You’ll also be able to take on daily guild quests that involve crafting items from specific recipes given by the guild leader. Completing these quests will allow you to progress up the guild ranks and earn weekly rewards from the guild.

Expect more recipes and upgradeable items to be added in the future. Meanwhile, the patch notes are up on the Lord of the Rings Online official site if you want to dive into the gritty details.
