Lord Of The Rings Online Reveals New Shadowfax And Treebeard Speed-Modified Progression Servers

Standing Stone Games has just announced their plans to open two new progression servers even as they prepare to shut down the underpopulated Ithil legendary server tomorrow. Each of the new servers will have progression speed modifiers in place and have been aptly-named based on their respective speeds.
Shadowfax, named after Gandalf’s trusty steed, will offer accelerated progression, while Treebeard, named after the oldest of the Ents in Middle-Earth, will feature decreased leveling speeds. The new servers will also allow players to adjust the server’s difficulty via the new Landscape Difficulty slider. Executive Producer Rob Ciccolini confirmed in a dev stream earlier this week that higher difficulty settings will translate to better rewards.
Standing Stone has yet to announce a launch date for the new servers. In the meantime, Middle-Earth’s annual Midsummer Festival will be kicking off this Thursday, June 17 to once again commemorate the historic wedding Aragorn and Arwen. The event centers around Minas Tirith, where players will have the chance to earn Midsummer Tokens that they can exchange for various rewards, including mounts, decorations, and cosmetic items.
Rob Ciccolini, a.k.a. Severlin, talks about the new servers and their plans for the game in the dev stream below.
