Amidst the excitement over Amazon Game Studio’s new Middle-earth MMO, Lord of the Rings Online fans are voicing concerns about the future of the MMORPG. Standing Stone Games, however, has assured the community that LOTRO is here to stay for the foreseeable future.

“We’ve received a number of notes from excited and concerned community members about a new MMO coming to the Tolkien-verse from Amazon Games,” said Standing Stone. “We wanted to give everyone in the community an update and assure you all that LOTRO is not going away!”

“Like you, we, and our partners at Middle-earth Enterprises are huge fans of LOTRO,” the studio added. “It is beloved, it is sixteen, it is evergreen. LOTRO is like the long-lived Ents, Elves and Dwarves; and we mere mortals, are the stewards of LOTRO and its community. Standing Stone has every intention of growing and supporting this community. The road goes ever on…”

Meanwhile, Update 36 continues to be available for testing on the Bullroarer test server with a whole host of new tweaks and adjustments. The new PvP siege system, however, has been yanked from testing and has been put on the backburner in response to feedback received during its first round of testing.

Standing Stone also announced a Gwathenrost raid race event on the Brandywine server on May 27th. Various rewards up for grabs for the winning team, including exclusive titles and LOTRO Points. A new legendary reward track is also live with a batch of new rewards to unlock.
