Lord Of The Rings Online’s Ill Omens Event Returns With Major Changes To Portent Rewards

The omens foretold the return of Lord of the Rings Online’s Ill Omens event and so it has come to pass. The rather contentious skirmish event returns to Middle-Earth for its annual run with a few significant changes to hopefully avoid a repeat of last year’s Portents-induced mess.

Portents are extremely coveted reusable items that grant players temporary overpowered buffs. They’re basically trump cards that you can pull out when in a bind and are invaluable when taking on raid-level content. Acquiring Portents, however, can be an extremely arduous process, especially when you’ve got your sights set on acquiring all three of them, as was the case during last year’s event.

This year, Standing Stone Games is shaking things up by reducing the efficacy of the incoming damage portent and allowing players to unlock only one portent per character. Level-capped players will still be able to acquire the remaining portents through the new Carn Dûm instance cluster once the Ill Omens event comes to a close on February 27th.

Standing Stone notes that portents will remain bound to individual characters and will NOT be made into account-bound items… ever.
