lord of the rings online outer gondor preview

The Lord of the Rings Online dev team has yet to officially unveil their 2024 development roadmap for the game, but executive producer Rob Ciccolini was more than happy to share a brief rundown of what’s coming in an interview with YouTuber Bludborn.

According to Ciccolini, they’ll continue to focus on rolling out new Corsairs of Umbar content with plans to fill up the remaining areas of the new zone. Elves are also on track for a makeover with an upcoming graphical update. New legendary servers are also in the pipeline, promising a new mechanic with something “chasing” you. The team is also looking into opening regional legendary servers for those in Europe.

On the backend, the promised 64-bit servers are standing by to go online as work continues on two-factor authentication and the new LOTRO launcher. Ciccolini also touched on the ongoing battle with lag saying that the 64-bit servers and upcoming changes to how information is linked to characters should significantly reduce slowdowns in the long-running free-to-play MMORPG.

We’ll have to wait for the official 2024 roadmap for the release windows, but in the meantime, you can check out the full interview in the video below.
