One of Standing Stone Games goals for 2023 is to overhaul every class in Lord of the Rings Online in some way, shape, or form, by the end of the year. With January now coming to a close, the studio outlines what they’ve planned for the first two classes that will be getting a major balance pass: the Captain and Warden.

For the Captain, Standing Stone wants to ensure that the hybrid class remains as one of the main support classes in the game but will be moderately increasing its damage across all skill lines. Blue-line Captains will be tweaked towards a main healer role, Red-lines will be getting a solo-stance which will allow them to dish out more damage, while Yellow-lines will be getting minor quality-of-life improvements.

Wardens, on the other hand, will have its gambit chains overhauled to account for its lack of defensive cooldown abilities, particularly when rolling Determination builds. Damage-oriented Wardens will also have its Seize the Moment effect removed for Assailment specializations and will have small-stacking DoT and other so-called “clutter effects” removed. The Assailment tree itself will be transformed into a non-specialization trait tree to support the other two Warden spcializations.

There’s no timeline on when these changes will come out but we can probably expect to see more information come out as soon as they roll out on the Bullroarer test server.
