Leyou Technologies Approves Tencent Takeover For $1.3 Billion
Earlier this year, we reported on Sony, Zhejiang Century Huatong Group, and Tencent’s plans to buy up Hong Kong based video game holding company, Leyou Technologies. Tencent eventually came out on top and have been exclusively negotiating with Leyou ever since. According to PC Games Insider, 97% of Leyou’s shareholders approved of the deal which means that Tencent will soon be taking control to the tune of $1.3 billion.
Leyou Technologies owns several development studios including Warframe developer Digital Extremes; Athlon Games, who are working with Amazon Game Studios on a new Lord of the Rings MMO; Radiance Games, the studio behind Civilization Online; Kingmaker, a Chinese free-to-play games publisher; and UK-based studio Splash Damage, the developer of Halo: Master Chief Collection and Gears Tactics.
