League of Legends Franchise Hits New Record with 180 Million Monthly Active Users

Think League of Legends is dead? Think again. Riot Games announced today that 180 million players logged into the world of Runeterra. The phrasing here is a bit strange as it implies that League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, Wildrift, and Legends of Runeterra combined hit the 180 million figure, but given the popularity of each title, the vast majority came from League of Legends. Riot's other game, the popular tactical FPS Valorant, is not set in Runeterra, so is presumably not included in this 180 million figure.

The last official playerbase count from Riot Games was back in 2016 when they boasted "over 100 million monthly active users", so in the last 4 years the franchise (League of Legends, Teamfight Tactics, and Legends of Runeterra) has grown a whopping 80%.

League of Legends is definitely not dead.
