Lawsuit Filed Against Jagex For Muting A Player Is Dismissed Just Five Days After It Was Filed

runescape sliskes endgameIf you’ve ever been muted in an MMORPG and want to get back at the devs filing a lawsuit probably isn’t the best idea as one RuneScape player learned. Amro Elansari recently filed a lawsuit against UK development studio Jagex and parent company Shanghai Fukong for allegedly muting him without reason.

In his lawsuit filed in a Pennsylvania Court, Elansari claimed that the studio refused to explain why he was muted and denied his request for an appeal which allegedly violated his human rights and his right to due process and free speech.

Unsurprisingly, the lawsuit was summarily dismissed just five days after it was filed. According to MMO Fallout and the full legal documentation of the case, Judge Kearney ruled that Elansari’s allegations were “implausible” and that the First Amendment and the Fifth Amendment Due Process Clause only applies to government institutions and not private entities.

In addition, Elansari will not be able to make any further federal or constitutional claims but he may file state charges in a state court if he chooses to do so.
