Landmark Shuts Down Today

The day has finally arrived, the last bits of dirt have been kicked into the hole, and Landmark has sailed into the great beyond, to be remembered as a memory of what could have been. Daybreak Game Company announced Landmark's closure in early January, which was no surprise to anyone after the cancellation of EverQuest Next. Now Landmark, will live on in the MMOs.com graveyard.  

Landmark was originally released as a complimentary game to EverQuest Next, as a tool to help build the world of the MMORPG. But with Next's cancellation it was only a matter of time before Landmark followed along. 

Unfortunately, Daybreak has no interest in releasing any code/data, dashing hopes that the game could return as a community run project.  But we may see it return one day, in some form, if Daybreak decides to sell the right to EverQuest, likely why they're keeping the code.

But for now, RIP Landmark, we hardly knew ye.
