John Smedley Leaves Daybreak Game Company

John Smedley, a long time executive at Daybreak Game Company (formerly Sony Online Entertainment, announced today that he is leaving the company. This comes weeks after he stepped down from the CEO role after a heated clash with Lizard Squad via Twitter, which led to Smedley closing his Twitter account. He has been with Daybreak for well over a decade and was involved with the company since its EverQuest days.

Daybreak confirmed Smedley's departure by saying:

Smedley announced that he started his own company and will be its CEO. No word on his company's name just yet or what he aims to do with it, but I'm sure we'll hear more on that soon.
