INTERSHELTER Launches On Steam Early Access As A Buy-To-Play Title

After our recent Beta key giveaway, I decided to try out INTERSHELTER, a recent Battle Royale-style game for which the keys literally flew off the digital shelves. In the game, players join upwards of 49 other players in a race to rescue capsules in the in-game intershelter. The amount of rescue capsules is both random and limited, however, capping out at 21, so players will need to fight for their right to survive. The game also encourages players to run around and gather equipment at first by keeping the intershelters locked off during the first 10 minutes.
I wasn't impressed, to say the least. Almost everything wrong with the game had been wrong with Skies Technologies' previous project, The Skies, a problem that was probably caused by the game being an offshoot of The Skies. In fact, when I went to redeem my Beta key, Steam told me I had just redeemed a key for "The Skies PvP for Testing."
My experience went like this: I loaded up a match, was horrified by the fact that the player character's forearm clipped through its upper arm as it attempted to stand up, failed to punch someone I was both facing and standing right next to, was one-shot in the face with a railgun by that same person, died, and quit, never to return again. The game's fundamental mechanics, such as movement and interaction, just didn't feel right and I wasn't about to put myself through another round of it.
This game is available now on Steam Early Access for $12.99. I was a little surprised to see that it costs money, but, as of this moment, everyone that grabbed a Beta key has a free copy of the game now. However, an early Steam review seems to indicate that this may have been a mistake, so don't be too alarmed if your Beta copy suddenly disappears from your library.
Furthermore, the game seems to be doing well so far despite the price tag. Whether or not almost everyone playing managed to snag a Beta key or not, I do not know, but a 1300 concurrent player peak for the day is rather good.
